Up for sale is a cosmetically challenged but solid and mechanically sound FIAT 124 Spider with recent maintenances.
A respectable entry level 124 you can daily drive, that's solid enough to warrant investment.
This car is titled by the owner of Midwest-Bayless and will be an individual (not dealer) transaction.
This car has 58,000 miles and a clean bill of health from Midwest-Bayless.
This car has a factory fitted Bosch L-Jet fuel injected 2.0L engine that runs great.
It cold and hot starts just as expected. The chassis rides comfortably. Smooth shifting Automatic Transmission.
Body and Exterior
The body is desirable, original monochrome "Cherry Red" and is not a color change. The vehicle's exterior is good, and chassis structurally solid, but its overall cosmetic presentation is fair, about 75 points.
This car has been repainted by a previous owner some time ago, and panels have mismatched patina. It has several top-side dents that need to be worked out.
The body does not have structural rust or evidence of rust repair. The main structural areas such as front shock towers, rear shock towers, and rear trunk wells look good.
Minor bubbling on two of the fender arches.
Floorpans are solid and original.
The front grille and all front / rear rubber bumper trims are present. Original glass in all positions.
Engine, Fuel, Ignition, Exhaust and Cooling System
2000cc DOHC engine w/Bosch FI and Marelli electronic ignition
New fuel pump, filter, high and low pressure injection system supply fuel hoses, timing belt and v-belt. OEM Fuel Injection style tank was removed and cleaned.
The engine bay is clean and tidy.
Cooling system has been flushed, and new water pump installed. Temps are steady.
Electricals
All lights and signals work as expected. All cabin switches, gauges and clock work as expected.
Newer battery, fresh distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires.
Transmission / Clutch / Driveline
The 3-Spd TH180 automatic transmission is in good working condition, shifing correctly into all gears. Pan gasket and filter were recently replaced. Has a small fluid leak that leaves a coin-sized spot after a couple of days.
Driveshaft, flex joint, center support and universals inspect OK.
Steering / Suspension / Tires / Wheels / Brakes
Steering is tight, and car drives straight. Steering box lash has been adjusted, with minimal slop at center position like most Spiders have.
All wheel bearings are in spec with no hum or play.
Brakes are effective and stop the car in a straight line.
CD-16 "Iron Cross" OEM alloy wheels with center caps wearing like new Hankook 175/70-13 tires.
Interior / Top
This car features original beige interior.
Dashboard has a small center crack, center upper and lower consoles have been wrapped. Wood trims are not weather damaged.
Original door cards. Seats are comfortable with heavy wool covers over tattered original upholstery. Doors have manual window lifts and work correctly.
New vinyl convertible top, and original top boot.
Rear Trunk
Uncracked battery cover. Carpet, spare tire and jack.
