4-spd Transaxle 4.88 Close Ratio Racing (Fiat X1/9 Series 1) - U9

This is a close-ratio racing 4-speed transmission for Fiat X1/9. This unit was used for one event since it was built, in the 2008 SCCA Runoffs.

The gearbox contains an Alquati gearset with 1:1 final ratio, a plate/disc-style limited slip differential, and a 4.88:1 ring/pinion gear. Great for auto crossing or tight, short-track road racing.

Please Note: This transaxle is not suitable for highway use.

Transaxle was assembled and built by Steve Hoelscher with all new synchro rings, sliding sleeves and bearings and was run during it's only operation with an oil-to-water cooler controlling transmission fluid temps to approximately 260 degrees.

Sorry, there's not much to see from the photos, it looks like a regular transaxle but the goodies are on the inside.
This unit was operating freely when removed from the car, but is a used item and does not carry any future warranty.
