This is a freshly rebuilt 5-speed transmission for all Fiat 124 Spider cars, late 1978-83.
Uses a 15-tooth external speedometer drive gear to support 3.9:1 final drive in "late-style" differentials as supplied by FIAT 1978.5-on.
Note beginning in the 1984 model year, Pininfarina cars began using an engine / transmission pair with a slightly shorter input shaft on the transmission.
This gearbox will work in those later model year applications if the nose of the input shaft is shortened by 1/4".
REQUIRES 15 Tooth Speedometer Drive Assembly, Reverse Light Switch, and Shifter Extension Assembly. Transfer these items from your existing transmission, or they are available separately if needed.
Note All work performed in-house by Midwest Bayless. This box has been fully disassembled, and any/all worn components and all seals and gaskets have been replaced. Every item is inspected and measured for tolerances, and replaced if necessary, including bearings, synchros, sliding sleeves, gears, shift forks, shift rails etc. Case is media blasted for a super-clean appearance.
Unlike the other guys, we include the bell housing.
The price shown is based on using your existing core transmission as the basis for the rebuild.
